CHAPTER 03 · COMPLETE TUTORIAL

Storyboard & Keyframes

Translate the script into timed shots and solve composition and continuity before video generation.

INPUTScript and approved character, set, and prop assets
DELIVERABLEShot list, animatic, approved keyframes
Tools: Text model, shot table, and image generator

Follow the workflow

Give each shot one primary action or information change.
Record duration, framing, camera, composition, action, light, dialogue, and sound.
Check axis, eyeline, screen direction, and prop position between adjacent shots.
Generate keyframes from approved assets and inspect faces, hands, text, and perspective.
Time the stills as an animatic to validate rhythm and dialogue length.

Reusable template

Locked character description + set anchors + [one starting action] + [expression] + [framing and composition] + [camera height] + [light and palette] + vertical 9:16 + preserve face, hair, costume, props, and background structure.

Keep invariant fields fixed and replace only project variables. Change one variable per test.

Quality gates

  • Each shot performs one primary task
  • The animatic reads without sound
  • Eyelines, axis, and action direction remain continuous
  • Approved frames have no obvious face, hand, text, or prop defect
Troubleshooting:
Split overloaded shots. Lock camera position and subject placement when composition drifts. Shorten dialogue or extend the shot instead of forcing unnatural speech.
SPECIALIST GUIDES

Additional practical guidance

Use a prompt master for identity, set, style, aspect ratio, and invariants; replace only framing, position, action, emotion, and camera variables.
Write body action as start pose, physical transition, and end state. Write expression as trigger, brows/eyes/mouth, gaze, and end state.
Choose transitions by narrative relationship: action match, eyeline match, occlusion, matched composition, or sound lead.
If a shot feels flat, specify camera start, direction, and endpoint and keep one primary camera move.
